Hi all,

the call for the annual FORCE conference (https://www.force11.org/meetings/force2021) is open until October 15th. I believe it would make sense to submit a work in progress report about the MOSS project as a role model for OSGeo projects (with DOI).

The conference is organised by the FORCE11 group (https://www.force11.org/), FORCE11 is an international coalition of researchers, librarians, publishers and research funders working to reform or enhance the research publishing and communication system (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FORCE11). They introduced the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, resuable) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAIR_data), which is a strong driver for Open Science and Open Source.

Conference title:
“FORCE2021: Joining Forces to Advance the Future of Research Communications”.

"The FORCE11 annual conference is a different kind of meeting, where stakeholders come together – or scrummage – for an open discussion, on an even playing field, to talk about changing the ways scholarly and scientific information is communicated, shared and used. Researchers, publishers, librarians, computer scientists, informaticians, funders, educators, citizens, and others attend the FORCE11 meeting with a view to supporting the realization of promising new ideas and identifying new potential collaborators."

About submissions:

"CALL FOR PROPOSALS
FORCE2021 will consist of both curated conference sessions and both community contributed sessions. The curated sessions will come in the formats of keynotes and panel discussions while the community contributed sessions will come in the formats of lightning talks and poster sessions. All conference sessions will be carefully distributed over multiple time zones to maximize the opportunity for participation and attendance across the globe."

FORCE2021 organizing committee is pleased to announce the call for proposals for community contributed sessions in the following formats:

Lightning talks (maximum of 10 minutes)
Posters, that is, infographics or slideshows with the option for the presenter to engage with attendees synchronously and asynchronously in a virtual meeting space.
Conference Themes
FORCE2021 Conference will focus on a set of themes. We welcome proposals that address the FUTURE of scholarly communications in one or more of the following:

Research assessment
Science communication through social media
The future of science work <==== MOSS !
Scholarly communications role in the sustainable development goals SDGs
Systemic change for equity and inclusion
Successes from student organizations
Governance of open science <==== MOSS !
Science discoverability          <==== MOSS !

IMHO we could pitch for either a lightning talk or a poster.

Who's in ?

best,
Peter
