[Oceania-Board] Open Governance panel @ SotM / FOSS4G Oceania (WAS: Edoardo contact)

We're still fleshing out the details of the panel, but these are the
questions I have so far:

   1. Do local OSM chapters benefit from governance? If so, how? If not,
why not? What are the challenges / limitations / reservations in
building or formalizing governance in open communities?
   2. What lessons can the OSM community draw from other open source
communities including OSM US, the Wikipedia Foundation, and the Linux
   Foundation?
   3. OpenStreetMap’s tagging schema has been wonderful for data diversity
and ease of contribution, but it makes data consumption more challenging.
Do you agree and what solutions do you think would address this?

I was thinking the theme would be something along the lines of formality vs
organic. When does OSM benefit from standardization and authority and when
does it benefit from grassroots, bottoms up systems.

I'd love to hear any other questions you have in mind.

Thanks Arnalie and hopefully you can make it!
