OK - one major expense for small businesses in this space is public
liability insurance. Do you want OsGeo as an organisation able to
take on grants, participate in OGC testbeds etc, or even provide
support for FOSS4G community members to engage in funded activities
outside corporate investment (and its not a trivial investment) in
skills.
This is going to be a challenge for the corporate good guys to make
the case one way or the other, but I think we should be quite clear
about what the intention is, so that the structure actually reflects
and enables the outcome desired.
