as Micha has pointed out, the EGU calls for abstract submissions and 
also Townhall Meetings.

  Townhall meeting request

Townhall meetings are meetings open to all conference participants. At 
townhall meetings, new initiatives or decisions are announced to a 
larger audience, followed by an open discussion on the matter raised.

Anyone may organize such a townhall meeting subject to approval by the 
programme committee chair. Townhall meetings will take place 
Monday–Tuesday, 18–19 April 2016, and Thursday–Friday, 21–22 April 2016, 
19:00–20:00, in the lecture rooms of the congress centre.Applications 
<https://webforms.copernicus.org/EGU2016/townhall_meeting_request/>need 
the prior approval by the programme committee chair. Upon acceptance, 
the respective meeting will appear in thetownhall meetings programme 
<http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/egu2016/sessionprogramme/TM>as a 
regular session.

We had great OSGeo Townhalls at the EGU GA in the last two years 
[Details here: https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/EGU_Townhall_2015], so 
there's already experience on how to do this. I will contact the Board 
for funding money for 2016.

It would be good if we could discuss this event also during the next 
confcall.
