[OpenLayers-Dev] use openlayers for images

Instead of using maps, I'd like to extend the OpenLayers functions to be
able to manipulate other images too.
This is what I have got so far:

The main issue I am having at the moment is that I can't make the library
not to use resolution info. The image should be displayed to its original
resolution (as if displayed in a browser) and the overviewmap built
accordingly.
Has anyone suggestions?
