[OpenLayers-Dev] Ticket#434, selection of features on multiple layers

Hello,

I stumbled into http://trac.openlayers.org/ticket/434 and found the
attached patch is working great.

There is one thing I discovered:

If you are working with rules and in my case with maxScaleDenominator
you get features which are actually invisible at feature selection. Of
course the layer has to be enabled.

I was looking at the patch but I didn't get an idea how to resolve this
issue.

Can somebody give me a hint. My thoughts so far are: At feature
selection OL has to check whether the feature is visible or not. But
with firebug I wasn't able to find a difference between an feature in
visible zoom range and outside. But there has to be a difference...
somewhere. What am I missing?

Furthermore: what needs to be done to get this code into trunk? How can
I help on this?
