[OpenLayers-Dev] problems on deactivate DrawFeature Control after feature added

I have this error when i try to deactivate the DrawFeatureControl (on
featureadded event) using a RegulaPolygon Handler

Error: this.layer is null
Source File: .../openlayers/lib/OpenLayers/Handler/RegularPolygon.js
Line: 382

the problem is not present if using Polygon Handler

i've found a very old question (~2008) like this on users mailing list
but no answer on the right way to deactivate the controller
