We used to use jsmin.

The examples available at <http://www.openlayers.org/dev/examples/>
now rely on OpenLayers builds compressed with the Google Closure
compiler.

FYI, the build.py script, shipped with OpenLayers, now supports
compressing with the Google Closure compiler. See
<http://trac.osgeo.org/openlayers/browser/trunk/openlayers/build/README.txt>.
