[OpenLayers-Users] Tooltip Name City...?

I looked at the OpenLayers.Marker API and can not see in which way I have to
use
it to enable tooltips. Furthermore the only markers that are provided are
icons.
I don't see a text option.

Since GeoJSON is now available may you explain in which way it helped or
will help you to enable tooltips?
Can you provide a code example?
