[OpenLayers-Users] Newbie: accessing Arcweb data

I am a newbie to Openlayers, with limited javascript experience.  I am
trying to access and display data services such as Arcwebservices, but I'm
not clear if I insert the entire REST based url provided by ArcWeb services
into "Openlayers.Layers.HTTPRequest". The URL on it's own generates a map
image in the browser so I know it's working correctly.

Is this what the "HTTPRequest" is for?
