Not directly. What you could do is to create new cgi-script that
creates the vertical section, then make a vector layer with lines
representing the different vertical sections that are available, and
use OpenLayers.Control.SelectFeature to trigger a callback that opens
a popup with an img-tag pointing to your vertical section cgi-script.
I did something similar, but with wave spectrums and a point layer, a
while back. It shouldn't be too hard to adapt.
