[OpenLayers-Users] Does openlayers provide efficent client side spatial referenced query mechanism?

the lame duck browser that is IE the main limitation here, aside
from the sheer number of points

it would be easier and muhc much quicker to load the points based
on the region selection, 30k point is a lot.

have you considered using a mapserver to achieve the same results?
