[OpenLayers-Users] Problem with zoom box with OL2.7/2.8 and IE 8

Hi all: I'm seeing weird behavior with the standard zoom box navigation (shift-drag) with both OL 2.7 and 2.8 with IE 8. I'm 
sure it's CSS error on my end but it's not obvious to me. If you visit:

  http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/staging/steve/compass_test_ol27.html or
  http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/staging/steve/compass_test_ol28.html 

Try a shift-drag zoom with IE 8 when the page loads. The main viewport goes basically white and you don't see the zoom
box (although the zoom completes ok). Measure tool works fine too. As usual everything's cool in Firefox and Safari. I've 
not tested with IE 7.

Any guesses as to why would be much appreciated. Many thanks!
