First I think you'd better try to test your server with some explicit HTTP
WFS request (spec:

I think the OL requests are server-independent, but sincerely I don't know
how to help you. I couldn't find working examples on the web for you, only
people complaining for problems.

But what is the problem when you run your program? Are you on localhost?
You can try simply not specifying the namespace URI. I believe that with
Mapserver your polygons are named somehow, isn't it? If so, the name of the
group of polygons is the layerName you have to specify in the Vector
request.
