I posted about running into this issue on March 25 and Arnd pointed me to:

(maybe that ticket should include keywords "leading, zeros" because I missed
it as well)

Since I'm only using replacement values that are strings, commenting out the
line with the parseFloat didn't seem to have any regressions on my app.
