[OpenLayers-Users] Can I output my layers/map in SVG?

If your map server also provides a WFS service, such as GeoServer does, you can fetch your map features as structured data and render them as vectors on the client.  You can see an example here: http://openlayers.org/dev/examples/

Is that what you're after?
