[OpenLayers-Users] Maximum Number of web features to download

It really depends on the browser and the number of vertices that the features have (if line or polygon). For points, I'd say <200 on IE6, IE7 and IE8, and <5000 on other browsers, maybe more or less depending on your definition of "unworkable". It also depends on the complexity of the styles you use.
