[OpenLayers-Users] Spherical Mercator example and mouse wheel zoom

There was an post earlier saying that if application has two or more navigation controls then it will do that. And that's what was happening to my application.  

However, I'm not sure what goes wrong with this example in the link, as I didn't try to figure it out.

I have a question regarding the example for layers in Spherical Mercator at

http://openlayers.org/dev/examples/spherical-mercator.html

In contrast to other examples, the mouse wheel zoom is always zooming 2 levels at once for a single mouse click-turn. Using the + or - buttons the zoom is just one level. Is there a setting available that configures the mouse wheel zoom also to a single zoom level per click-turn as it is for most of the other OL examples I've seen?
