[OpenLayers-Users] Flickering map in Safari with Google Maps and OSM

Hi,

I am encountering a strange flickering of map tiles in Safari when using OSM
and Google Maps. When viewing the OSM map and zooming in the tiles are
flickering and at a certain zoomlevel they disapear. The flickering is
almost undetectable but when adding an Image-Layer it starts to be really
annoying. This happens in Safari (5.1.7) on Mac OSX 10.6.8 and iOS 5.1.1. I
know that the problem is not visible in Safari 5.0.6 on Mac OSX 10.5.8.

I prepared an example at http://jsfiddle.net/FH5kJ/2/ which is mostly a copy
of http://openlayers.org/dev/examples/osm-google.html with an image layer
added.

Does anybody else see the same flickering? What could be the possible reason
and what a solution?
