[OpenLayers-Users] Suspend map updates

Hi -

I've looked through the documentation and can't seem to find what I'm 
looking for and would appreciate a hint. 


I need to be able to suspend and resume map updates when certain condition 
exist in other parts of my application.  Is that possible?  Can I have a 
hint?
