[OpenLayers-Users] Retrieving label width

Hi,
Is there a precise way to determine the label width in pixels?
My method is putting the same text (same properties) on a div hidden in a
page and then retrieving the clientWidth but the width is less than appears
on the label and then I have to apply a correction factor 1.2... hence my
question.
