[OpenLayers-Users] What is the easiest way to search a vector layer(s)?

I would like to add a search function to my map using javascript only.  I
have loaded a GeoJSON vector layer which represents parcels and each parcel
has a unique parcel ID.  The function will search the parcel layer for a
matching parcel ID and zoom to the matching feature.  I very inexperienced
at javascript, so if you could provide an example the would be great.
