[OpenLayers-Users] Search and pan to feature

Hi list,

Fairly new to openlayers. I need some advice/pointers to search a
feature and then pan to it on a map.

I have a WMS layer with features that have id's specially utility
poles with pole numbers. What i want to do is allow user to enter the
pole number and it will search and pan/zoom to where this pole is.

I have looked at the examples available and none seem to have this
usecase which i find odd.

Any advice/pointers appreciated.
