Hi Mike,
if you have questions about the udig and java setup, just drop me a note.
I didn't yet repackage udig, but apart of no more putting java under
desktop category, the install should be as it is now. Let me know if
it is ok for you, else we can change it together. It really should be
the same java. Geoserver is on 1.6 or 1.5? I am loading a 1.6, but if
really necessary we could go by 1.5.
