#43: change default setup cache dir to %OSGEO4W_ROOT%\var\cache\setup\
-------------------------+--------------------------------------------------
 Reporter: maphew | Owner: osgeo4w-dev at lists.osgeo.org
     Type: enhancement | Status: new
 Priority: major | Milestone:
Component: Installer | Version:
 Keywords: setup, apt |
-------------------------+--------------------------------------------------
Please consider changing the default cache for osgeo4w-setup.exe to
%OSGEO4W_ROOT%\var\cache\setup\. This would enable wiki:pkg-apt to share
the cache with a minimum of fuss.

The install root is set in step #3 "OSGeo4W Setup - Choose Installation
Directory", while cache is set in step #4 ""OSGeo4W Setup - Select Local
Package Directory". So I think it should be possible.

 Con:
 - Slightly more difficult to erase o4w and start over. With the default
package directory in the same folder as osgeo-setup.exe one can simply
delete %OSGEO4W_ROOT% and run setup again without forcing a new download.
If the packages are under %OSGEO4W_ROOT%\var deletion needs to be more
selective. In my opinion the tradeoff is worth it. We can write a "delete
all but download cache" script if need be.
