[osgeo4w-dev] help parsing version number from filename

Hello,

WRT http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/ticket/156, can anyone point to me to 
the relevant location(s) in setup.exe's code that the version parsing 
from package archive filename is done? If I can I'd like to use the same 
algorithms rather than invent my own, which are possibly wrong and/or 
incomplete.
