Miura-san,

It is nice that you have started topic about the FOSS4G Curriculum.
on this list. This topic is also being discussed and implemented
in the OSGeo Education Committee. Hopefully a standardized syllabus
can be developed for undergraduate and post-graduate level.

I personally feel that the easier way to make progress would be to
decided the target and approach the development of syllabus
is stages. The first stage could be to develop a post-graduate
course in "Applied Geospatial Science and Technology" which
could be based entirely on OSGeo software stack. We are also
discussing about such courses with some universities in Asia.

The broad topic to be covered could be

a) Principles of GIS, RS and GPS
b) Applied Mathematics and Statistics
c) Spatial Analysis using GIS and Web
d) Remote Sensing and Image Processing
e) Application examples and Lab exercises in GIS and RS
f) Computer programming for geospatial analysis and
   processing (mainly focusing on C and Python)
g) Programming for Web GIS (mainly PHP and Javascript)
h) Internship in Geospatial industry
i) Thesis work

Target students could be 50% for IT background and 50% from
application science background and to make sure that students
work as a team comprising of developers and application
specialists.

The second stage of curriculum development could focus on
under-graduate level, I think.
