Nathaniel,
I'm impressed, you get started fast.
This is good material, but we need to summarise the content. You 
currently have  around 4 pages, and we need to cut back to around 1 
page, to be consistent with rest of material.

Could you also please start putting docs into subversion. You will need 
to start by creating an OSGeo user id here: 
http://www.osgeo.org/osgeo_userid
  then ask me to give you permission to update the svn repository as per:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Live_GIS_Disc#Subversion

The key principle here is "Less words get read by more people".

I'll email you a first review of your doc separately.
