I don't know if you're planning to use some translation tool, but I
translated the geonetwork user documentation into Spanish using
OmegaT[1] and it worked like a charm (but I can't assure it will work
with reStructured Text markup because of the spaces).

The thing is that this tool works in a very different way than maybe
you've thinking on, because you feed it with your documents and it
creates a "translation memory" that you fill sentence by sentence. Thi
is the only "artifact" that should be versioned and you can "recreate"
the output directories (the "jp", "it", ...) with that translation memory.

The cool thing about that workflow is that when the original document is
changed or updated the software points you to the new sentences you have
to translate and then you can "recreate" the ouput directories so the
maintenance of the translation is easier than having to look the svn
differences to update all the translated documents.

I'm very sorry not to be a the code sprint today to share all these
ideas but, well, I had to return to Valencia yesterday :-/

I'll try to start translating liveDVD into Spanish but after FOSS4G my
spare-time-credit-for-geekery is low at this moment.

Cheers
