[Live-demo] Will gdal 1.9 break your application on osgeolive?

I have spoken in detail with the packager of GDAL on Ubuntu GIS unstable
It appears that we may have a GDAL 1.9 package using the internal 
libTIFF flags
  that EvenR has pointed out, in about two (2) days from now

Aside from the obvious benefits of having more current software
this would side-step an ugly conflict that comes up between consumers 
of libTIFF

I encourage us to accept this new package if and when it arrives
