[Live-demo] Any ideas for using a Google Summer of Code student to progress OSGeo-Live?

Does anyone have ideas on how we can make use of GSoC students to write
code to improve OSGeo-Live?
My ideas about improving documentation and testing wouldn't qualify, as
they don't involve coding.
