[Ottawa_users] re: database of towers

Industry Canada houses all this info...

their DB holds info such as:
* location
* tower height,
* base elevation,
* Antenna Elevation
* antenna type.

the searches and results are by frequency and deal with the antenna. I
have found that the towers are listed as part of the antenna spec
instead of solo.

So you have to find an antenna based on a particular frequency and then
extract the tower data.

I took a wuick look for it and it looks like their site has moved
around... it will take a few hours of digging probably but try the usual
keywords.
* GIS
* Communications
* Location, lat/long
* tower location
* antenna database

etc etc...

you'll find it....

I had a dunp of the DB from a few years ago and plotted cell phone
towers of the ottawa area so the info (once you find it) will be useful.

Post the link back to the list once you've found it.

P.S i think CRTC just does all the policy work, Industry Canada holds
all the licencing info.

Good luck.

These towers always have flashing red lights for warning low flying aircraft. Would NAV Canada maintain this kind of information?
