[postgis-devel] [WKT Raster] Type of extent column of RASTER_COLUMNS

Hi,

I'm wondering why extend column of RASTER_COLUMNS table is of type of
GEOMETRY instead of POLYGON (or even BOX2D).

What's the rationale behind using GEOMETRY if we need a rectangle?
I'm guessing that if we'd use POLYGON/BOX2D explicitly then we can use PostGIS
validation features for the extent input. Does it sound OK?
