Hi Mark,

I don't really think there's a direct link, as for #141, it's clearly a  
conceptual
error in length size computation.
Fixed as r3910

The only common point (for the moment) is that both #141 and #119 appears  
only on
some platforms

I will rebuild my PostgreSQL with assert, to see if it could help
