Hi All-

 ( I am giving a talk on Saturday to OSGeo California Chapter and ask 
anyone who cares to
to look at 3 pictures and see if they make sense.. )

  based on Regina's very dense and very informative post earlier,
I have come up with a visual representation of three ways to measure distance

  following the example,

dist   st_distance()

  the distances are from POINT to POLYGON
