"Magically do the right thing if the CRS is geodetic". I prefer the
explicit approach, since the geodetic right thing is also the slower
thing, and we haven't implemented even 20% of what would be necessary
to get full coverage on this approach (so we'd get oddities like
ST_Length calculating on the sphere while ST_Touches calculates on the
plane)
