If these files were generated on demand in /tmp or something, that would
seem fine. The problem is that there are a zillion files with simliar
names, and the list of which ones exist change every release, and at
least pkgsrc has a manifest of names, so the more entries, the more
hassle.
It could be reasonable to expect that anyone who runs an rc for real (vs
testing it) should be expected to upgrade to the corresponding release
first.
