Thanks I’ll make sure to highlight the –enable-lto flag in the Release announcement.

Looking forward to the other new enhancements you mentioned below.

I’m planning to release later tonight unless if someone raises a -1 in the next couple of hours.

Thanks,

Regina

+1 from me. Release early release often!

Request to packagers: please try ./configure --enable-lto flag. It makes maths stuff faster. Should work on Linux, and trickier than expected to get it working on *BSD (but you may have more experience there).

We have a couple things in the works in Kontur that would be nice to try to fit into 3.3.0:

 - non-flipping ST_LineMerge - https://github.com/libgeos/geos/pull/597 in geos now;
 - parallel ST_Union - we're checking alternative approach and if stars get aligned it may be generally useful.

I'd like to push out a PostGIS 3.3.0alpha1 this week.
+1 from me.

Key points:

1) PostgreSQL 15 Beta 1 shipped this week.
2) Packagers are unable to build against PostGIS 3.2, but we have already
patched PostGIS 3.3.0 (master) to support PostgreSQL 15.
3) PostGIS 3.3.0 has new features specifically designed for PostgreSQL 15,
so I'd really like PostGIS 3.3.0 to be tested alongside PostgreSQL 15

4) Backporting the fixes to 3.2 is a non-trivial amount of code and the new
index changes would complicate any PG Upgrade from PostgreSQL 15 3.2 to any
later PostGIS version.

So I'd like to very much avoid supporting PostGIS 3.2 on PostgreSQL 15.

Thanks,
Regina
