Comment:

 I've got the selection code fixed. It takes 1 minute to produce a x2
 overview of a 3655 tiles coverage (256x256 pixels x 1 band). No clipping
 is performed so time would get worst once that is introduced (to cleanly
 handle irregular tiles).

 Also, it keeps only working for aligned coverage in input, but maybe I'll
 keep this function simple and then eventually we'll do a C implemented
 generalized version turning this one into a wrapper.
