 yes - this looks right .. 'SQL preprocessor' not defined would fit with
 the symptoms here.. Small nit - the PostGIS build is fragile in an
 unexpected way,  rather than 'cpp broken' here, since I used the package
 manager to install all the dev-tools, and I build other software fairly
 regularly.
