 This is not a bug, it is expected behaviour given the limitations of
 finite-precision floating-point arithmetic.

 This comes up a lot. For a more detailed explanation see the
 [https://locationtech.github.io/jts/jts-faq.html#D7 JTS FAQ].  It would be
 good to add this to the PostGIS FAQ too.
