 Aha, the Esri code is deliberately being obtuse by using the "use_typemod"
 flag at the end of AddGeometryColumn(), forcing the system to use ancient
 behaviour. Was EGDB using those constraints itself in some way, and
 somebody added the flag when we changed the default?
