 The type is fine.  It shows it like that if you search_path doesn't
 include public.

 For example if you do


 {{{
 set search_path=public;
 \d+ public.pictures
 }}}

 It will probably show just plain geometry.

 So only thing I can think of is something fishy with the permissions of
 your app.
 Do you get the same issue when you select from your mat view in PSQL?
