 I revised to introduce a new switch --with-visual-examples

 make html will work with or without that enabled, but will only generate
 images if --with-visual-examples is passed in.  I made this an opt-in, so
 visual examples are only generated if explicitly asked for.

 Also that secondary call of running the regress visual-examples step is no
 longer needed but can still be done manually if you prefer.
