[postgis-users] Loading GPS Tracks

Do anyone have a good example for loading gps tracks into postgis?

We are planning to build a PHP application that will allow uploads
of  OziExplorer, Waypoint plus files and maybe some other formats.

The user uploads tracks and they should be selectable as different layers
in a php-Mapserver application.

Is it so that we create sql file as in
http://postgis.refractions.net/docs/x398.html
or is there a smarter way to do this.  

Is it possible to retain the time information in the track ?
