A description of how to implement new datasources with arcobjects is
described in 'Extending ArcObjects'. Draft chapters of this book are
available on the arcobjects website:
http://arconline.esri.com/arcobjectsonline/
under Technical Docs/Extending ArcObjects Draft Chapters/ chapter 8. It
lists and gives samples of 3 ways to add a new datasource. Looks like a
lot of work, but should be possible.

P.S. personally I am waiting for arcMap to support wfs.
