Hi Paul,

this is my DATA statement:

DATA "the_geom from top50"

I have created the following index:
CREATE INDEX top50_geom_idx ON top50 USING GIST (the_geom 
GIST_GEOMETRY_OPS);

Data was loaded through shp2pgsql.
