Thanks for the info, I will take a look at PgArc.
I am not really trying to use PostGIS as a backend to MO. I am simply trying
to capture a geographic area of interest from MO and process the query in a
separate system using PostGIS. The actual application will be for county
officials to initiate a emergency telephone notification process to a
geographic area. The idea here is to have the telephone side accept the
geographic boundary (probably WKT), query all telephone numbers that reside
in the geographic boundary and make the calls. This would keep the mapping
on the local computers for speed yet have the potentially large query and
the databases centralized on our servers.

You can pass SQL through ODBC from MO to PostGIS, but you cannot
transparently use PostGIS as a spatial backend to MO (ala SDE). The
work behind PgArc resembles the kind of stuff you would have to do to
put PostGIS features on the screen in MO.
