[postgis-users] postgis newbie - loading data

Alec:
  I belive ogr2ogr (a gdal utility) that will import data from the
shapefile frormat to the postgreSQL database. You can see the list
that ogr2ogr supports @ http://www.gdal.org/ogr/ogr_formats.html
