Hi David and others,
> Do U mean that U want to do a CD or DVD Linux Bootable???
no, I don't want to boot from the CD/DVD, but use postgis within the
currently running operating system (Linux, Windows, MacOSX) with a
graphical client application and postgis in the backend, without having
the user to first install Postgresql. The idea is to start postgresql
with a batch file or shell script and then start the graphical client
applicatoin that can query the read-only postgis installed on the CD/DVD.
I'll have a look into DWebPro, which seems to be an interesting approach
for the Windows platform. Guillaume, do I understand correctly, that all
the software (Apache, Postgresql/postgis) etc. would run directly off
the read only media without installation, but the data-directory would
need to be copied to a read/write harddisk?
I'll also have a look into the suggestions by Fenoy.
Thanks all for the feedback,
will keep you informed if I have any progress. It won't be soon, since
it is a low priority project, though.
Andreas
